Happy New Year!

Well, THAT just happened! We are in 2021 and it felt like a journey to get here. Am I right?

Um, let me catch my breath real quick!

2020. Was. WILD. So many of us, if not all, were called to stretch in ways that we never  imagined. After last year, I’m pretty sure we are all looking forward to 2021 with cautious optimism.

Here’s the thing. No matter how you entered this year, whether you’re running into a bright season, whether you’re limping across the finish line or crawling your way out of a tough calendar, you are amazing.

Last year we all experienced some sort of pain, frustration, loss of control or choice in one form or another. Yet, I was continually inspired by so many who had to endure so much and still remained optimistic.

Even though we don’t have all the answers to life’s questions and we don’t know what tomorrow will hold – we always have today!

Today is not just another “today” but the first or second or whichever day you’re on of clean pages of a whole year waiting for what we’ll write into our lives and what greatness we’ll pull from within.

If there is anything I learned last year is how valuable time is. Even though it felt like I got over a thousand extra hours with my kids, it was time I valued. At the same time I felt like not enough time was spent with loved ones I’ll never spend time with again.

So while 2020 was a challenge, it was also a clear reminder to not take one second for granted—because tomorrow it could all be gone. I am grateful for the time I’ve been given now.

This year that’s where I want to live. In a place of gratitude. In 2021, there will be steps to celebrate and moments of fear, moments of tumbling, moments of learning. But in each, I want to be present with gratitude.

I trust that the Lord has already ordained each day.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

I hope 2021 is a year that brings sweeter memories than the last.
