“Start each day with a grateful heart.” That is my goal this year. It is easy to live day by day consumed with the busyness of life or busy trying to reach our goals that we forget to be grateful for the season we are in.
It’s been about two months that I have been practicing gratitude and my goal is to make it a priority everyday this year. Simply because gratitude helps you focus on what you already have instead of what you lack. The more you practice on having an attitude of gratitude the stronger your mental state becomes.
Did you know research shows that gratitude serves as a barrier in the brain that doesn’t allow negative emotions and thoughts to pass? Less negative thoughts and emotions makes you a happier person. I’ll take that!
Just take a moment to think about it right now. If you are reading this, be thankful you are able to see, you have the ability to read and you have the luxury of a little down time to read this article. I bet that by alerting you that you have so much to be grateful for, you are already feeling a little happier. Thats what gratitude does!
Remember gratitude is more than a simple word that we throw around after we receive presents, or someone shows us acts of kindness or love. Gratitude is like a muscle. The more you exercise it the stronger it gets and it starts to impact our lives in ways we did not imagine.
Gratitude maintains you hopeful and optimistic. If you want to be happier start by being grateful.
My hope is that each of you reach your goals and to be grateful every step of the way.
Here’s to an amazing decade!

Emma wanted to be photographed too.
