Emma Turns Two

My mind is blown! To think that Emma is two years old today. I feel like it was only a few weeks ago that I brought her home from the hospital and was savoring all the newness of being a first time mom.

Then we literally FAST forward two years. I have a smart, charmingly mischievous, and precocious little human. She may be tiny, but is certainly fierce. How could we not celebrate that spunky little girl?

It became a no brainer to throw a Minnie Mouse themed birthday party because after we brought her little sister home from the hospital Minnie Mouse became Emma’s comfort plush toy at night.

I think she came to love Minnie Mouse by all our visits to Disneyland. Truth be told she hardly watches any Disney shows. She is slowly getting into the Pixar films.

A runner up to Minnie Mouse are the characters from Toy Story. She thinks she’s Bonnie from Toy Story 3. My husband and I were almost debating her birthday theme. But Minnie was the winner. Since it was the first character she was actually really into.

Over the last year somethings haven’t changed in a year. She still loves books. In her lifetime she’s only tried ice cream twice (she isn’t a big fan). She doesn’t eat cake. Her favorite restaurant is Olive Garden. The only movie she’s watched from beginning to end is Sing. She is starting to be a little shy and sometimes shows a little sass.

It’s incredible how much personality develops in two years. Emma definitely tests our patience (mostly my husbands) haha! There’s been times that she puts up a real challenge and makes me want to pull my hair out. She makes me question everything about parenting. No doubt about it. Emma is someone special.

One thing I do know is that we give our parenting role our best every single day. We pray we can lead her in the right direction, that she grows to love the Lord. We can’t wait to see what Emma does next.
